From 16 March to 24 June 2012 | Barcelona
It is exactly ten years since CaixaForum
Barcelona first opened its doors, and to celebrate this anniversary, "la
Caixa" Foundation and the Prado National Museum have organised a unique
exhibition. Entitled Goya. Lights and Shadows, this show will bring
ninety-six works from the Prado to the Catalan capital. The selection includes
some of Goya's best-known works, including: The Parasol, Blind Man's
Bluff, The Straw Manikin, The Duchess of Alba and Her Duenna
and the Self-Portrait from 1815. The show also includes a large selection
of court portraits, masterful and delicate pieces that contrast with the dark
magic of Disasters of War and Los Caprichos and the terrible
scenes depicted in La Tauromaquia and the Dreams, in which Goya's
art becomes visionary and clearly ahead of its time.
